West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio thanks Brumback Clinics for caring for community

At its Annual Clinic-Wide meeting on June 4th at the Mary McDonald-Wilson Center at Gaines Park in West Palm Beach, the C. L. Brumback Primary Care Clinics celebrated a year of accomplishments and thanked clinic staff for providing quality adult and pediatric medical services at its multiple locations throughout Palm Beach County. June 4th marks the second anniversary that the Brumback Clinics began operation in Palm Beach County.

West Palm Beach Mayor Geraldine “Jeri” Muoio was on hand to deliver a message of appreciation to the group of over 100 staff and administration, expressing her gratitude for the work they do to care for residents of West Palm Beach and the community.

“You are the people who meet the patients and take care of patients, listen to what’s going on in their lives, listening to what’s happening  to them and you’re really on the front line. So thank you,” she said.

Ronald J. Wiewora, MD, MPH, the Health Care District of Palm Beach County’s Chief Executive Officer and Chief Medical Officer also thanked the Brumback Clinics for their dedication and commitment in the past year as the clinics continue to expand throughout Palm Beach County. The Health Care District, which operates the Brumback Clinics as FQHCs, recently announced the Clinics have been awarded a “New Access Point” grant in the amount of $650,000 from the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The $650,000 annual grant will enable the Brumback Clinics to proceed with operating a new clinic location in western Lake Worth-Greenacres.

The meeting provided an opportunity to recognize community partners, as well as individual staff, for their efforts in the past year. The Brumback Clinics recognized Alina M. Alonso, MD, Director, Florida Department of Health, Palm Beach County, and a Health Care District Board Commissioner, with the Community Health Award. Two Community Partner Awards were presented to: Seeing the World, a local charitable organization that provides free comprehensive eye examinations and glasses to children in low-income areas and Daniel B. Kairys, MD, Surgeon, Lakeside Medical Center, who was also a featured speaker at the meeting.

The Brumback Clinics celebrated individual Employee of the Year recipients:

  • Wilkens LaFrance, Medical Assistant – Belle Glade Clinic
  • Huguette Jean Marie, Certified Application Counselor – Delray Beach Clinic
  • Marlys Oliver, Certified Medical Assistant – West Palm Beach Clinic
  • Elisa Tomas, Registration Specialist – Lantana Clinic
  • Louis Kaminsky, Projects Manager – Clinic Administration

Also speaking at the meeting was Deputy Karl Martin, Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, who provided information about maintaining personal safety in a health care environment.
